Your faction traits are Cold-blooded, +10 morale during winter battles, and immunity to snow attrition for all armies. It also has wood resource, which is handy and gives you a bit more leverage in trade. The settlement, Hrefnesholt, is a provincial capital and, as such, is reasonably well defended, not to mention quite far from anything else, bar the other settlements in the Scandza province. The Geats start with the northern-most settlement in the game. The Geats thrive in the northern realms, so prepare for snow, forests and brutal Nordic warfare! Solution? Just build goat pens for food and forget about moving. You are free to take Germano-Sarmatia, Scandza and Gothiscandza provinces and develop them as troop factories, which would usually make less sense for other factions, and winter will not disrupt the movement of troops towards the fronts, or as reasonably secure and distant places to produce money.Īlternatively, you can initiate a migration and resettle in another part, but migrating is usually a better idea if you play as the Danes.Īs the Geats, you want to remain in the icy regions.Ĭlimate change note: Ok, so the climate changes throughout the game and reduces the fertility of these lands. You don’t need to worry at all about snow attrition throughout your game, which is almost worth it by itself, and can use the army tradition points in other skills. All your armies get a level-2 tier-3 barbarian army tradition for free (without the paltry -2 enemy morale). No reason.īut, in campaign, all your armies have immunity to snow attrition. ![]() Well, there is no real reason to pick them over the Jutes. Why would you choose the Geats over the Jutes? Especially since the Jutes have two extra units, in the form of armoured, two-handed axe units called huscarls? Luckily, the Nords also hate weaklings and constantly strive to prove themselves worthy warriors through blood and battle. Thor despises weaklings and Wodan all-father, lord of magic, death and prophecy, only takes worthy warriors to the afterlife. ![]() Also, I could not find any Guide to the Guides.) Feel free to add to this guide as you please. If anyone feels screenshot-ish, please add some nice ones, if you feel like it. (Disclaimer: This thread remains a Work in Progress, since I have not taken screenies of the various units yet, nor taken generic screenies to add some colour to the guide. I will also update this guide as patches arrive, and will make a new post at end if I update the original post or the guide. ![]() Nelorix/Reptilicus' Attila balancing thread How to beat two-handed axe-spam as Romans Initial decisions and Overall strategic considerationsĢ. I recommend it for those who love axes, melee infantry combat (which you win), tough strategic challenges and limited unit choices adding to strategic difficulties/weaknesses. Of course (or unfortunately), the Viking factions are only available if you have the Vikings Forefathers DLC pack. My last multiplayer experience, outside of co-ops, is Shogun 2 MP (which was epic!) I have only finished the Geats on H, not yet on VH, so this guide is a bit early, but may help some Viking newcomers and, with input from the august community, can be of a lot more help to prospective Vikings.Īlso, if anyone wants to add a Multiplayer section to the guide, please do so. I welcome any and all corrections, suggestions and disagreements from more experienced Viking Forefather players. I be no expert, nor pro multiplayer, but I have enjoyed the TW games since long, long ago. Any dissenting views will also go into the guide, to give people the widest range of views and opinions. I will update the guide with your responses, all responses. The aim is to have this become a community-generated guide to the Nordic factions, including the Danes and Jutes factions, not just the Geats. Thus, I ask the community to add their tips for playing Viking Forefathers in replies to this thread and I will link these into the guide itself. I initially intended asking for advice from the community to boost my Geats game, but decided that I want to think more laterally. This single player guide will help you to get the most from these bloodthirsty, cold-blooded (no pun intended) savages, as well as potentially exposing a little love for alliteration. Welcome to the Geat Guide, guys and gals. Guide to the Geats - Skyr-…, erm, I, I mean, The north belongs to the Nords!
